Student attendance is recorded at school each day during House Group, and also in each lesson by the class teacher. Each school day consists of four (approximately 75-80 minute) periods except for Mondays and Wednesdays which contain one 35 minute period.
Attendance
Regular attendance is essential. The first day after an absence from school a pupil must present to their House Teacher a note written by a parent or guardian explaining that absence. When a student is away for two (2) days or more a telephone call to the G Block Office would be appreciated, followed by a note on return.
It is important to note that the Higher School Certificate require the Principal to sign a statement indicating that attendance, conduct and progress have been satisfactory.
Lateness and Early Leavers
Any student arriving at school after 8:25am must report to the G Block Office as soon as they arrive to record lateness and obtain a late note. Students who are late for school must bring a note from home to explain their lateness or the parent/guardian may call the Attendance Office on 8868 9126. If students do not present a note then they are classified as partially truanting and will be required to make up lost class time at recess or lunch.
Under no circumstances will pupils leave the premises during school hours without the permission of the Principal or Deputy Principal. An ‘Early Leavers’ pass will be issued in response to a written request from a parent. Students not carrying this pass will be redirected back to school by authorities if caught. The note giving an adequate reason is to be presented to the Head Teacher Administration, Ms Compagnon, a minimum of 24 hours prior to the requested leave time. Only in exceptional/emergency situations will notes for Early Leave be processed on the day. Parents are advised to make appointments for their son or daughter outside of school hours where possible.
Check Attendance
You are able to check if your child is attending school as expected on any particular day. To check your child’s attendance you will need to know your child’s student number. This can be found on their student ID card. Their number remains the same from Year 7 to Year 12. Click on the Daily Attendance Check link and search for your child’s student number. Students listed have been marked as absent from school on this day. If you expected your child to be at school and they have been marked absent or partially absent, please contact the attendance office.
